New Mercure hotel set for Somerset

Accor Hotels has just announced a new hotel signing in Bridgwater Somerset, increasing its footprint in the South West of England. The Mercure Bridgwater will provide over 100 rooms, and will open in the Autumn 2017.

Mercure Bridgwater has signed under a franchise by DC Hotels (Bridgwater) Ltd which has been heavily involved in the transformation Bridgwater has undergone in recent years.

Strong organic franchise growth, particularly for the 4-star Mercure brand, is one of AccorHotels’ strategic priorities in the UK as it continues to expand.

In the UK, the Mercure brand can be seen in 86 hotels nationwide and in the South West is already enjoyed by guests in Cardiff, Exeter and Bristol alongside other AccorHotels brands such as ibis and Novotel. The Mercure Bridgwater will bolster an international Mercure network of 732 hotels, over 90,000 rooms in 55 countries.

Thomas Dubaere, Managing Director Accor UK and Ireland, said. “The signing of the Mercure Bridgwater is another positive step in AccorHotels ambitious expansion plans and the strengthening of our portfolio in our mid-scale brands. The Mercure brand offers a unique combination of the celebration of the local area and the reassurance of a globally recognised high standard.”

Deepak Chainrai of DC Hotels (Bridgwater) commented, “The Mercure brand represents the high quality that the regeneration of Bridgwater has worked so hard to achieve. This is our first partnership with AccorHotels and I look forward to the Mercure Bridgwater playing a significant role in the local economy, creating new jobs, and becoming ‘the’ place to stay for visitors to the local area.”
