Polpo set for Bristol opening in August

Polpo is to open its first South West restaurant in Bristol in August on Whiteladies Road, which will be the 10th outlet for the brand.

The new restaurant will seat 60, with a further 20 outside. It will join sister sites in London, Brighton and Leeds, in offering a 'bacaro' - a Venetian word to describe a humble restaurant serving simple food, and good, young northern Italian wines.

Signature dishes include cicheti - small plates - such as fried stuffed olives; arancini; and chopped chicken liver crostini. Other small plates include fritto misto, pizzetta bianca, spicy pork and fennel meatballs, and sliced flank steak.

For sweet treats there are affogato al caffe, gelato cones, flourless chocolate and hazelnut cake and tiramisu pots.

The wine list will be exclusively Italian – including POLPO’s own label wines – and other options include Aperol and Campari, along with Negronis and Bellinis.
