Marstons plans hotel next to Staffordshire pub

Pub operator and brewer, Marston’s is planning to build ‘lodge-style’ accommodation next to one of its pubs in Gailey, South Staffordshire.

The scheme, which would see part of the site of the Spread Eagle transformed into a hotel, has been presented to South Staffordshire Council.

The new accommodation would be built just to the side of the pub-restaurant, which would remain in use.

The planning application states that the area receives 2.65 million day visits a year, resulting in a spend of £54m.
