Punch reports 13th roadshow major success

Punch has reported huge success following the completion of its 13th roadshow year, which saw a record number of publicans in attendance.

Impressively 1,765 pubs were represented across the eight roadshows which spanned the UK. The first roadshow began in Chester on 20 September and finished up in Newcastle on 13 October.

Overall, a staggering average number of 220 Publicans attended each of the 8 Roadshows run by Punch. Of those attendees, 92% confirmed that they would recommend the event to other Punch Publicans and 90% said they would make a return visit to the same event in 2017.

Punch’s focus for the 2016 roadshows was to support existing publicans with building their business, which included guidance on the impact of the recent regulatory changes. Punch did this by ensuring free operations and supplier support was offered to attendees, along with the important delivery of Pubs Code Presentations, which took place at each and every event and presented by the BII and ALMR.

Other highlights of the 2016 tour included the local Operations teams hosting post roadshow drinks for attendees, providing the opportunity for Publicans to network away from the surroundings of their own pub.

The location of each roadshow, including the four new venues that were added to the tour, were commended after attendees cited that their central positioning provided easy access with regards to transport.

With over 160 exhibitors, including suppliers, educational bodies and trade publications, the roadshows are another example of how Punch supports its Publicans.

Publicans had the chance to meet with key Punch team members, including chief executive Duncan Garrood who attended all eight events, as well as household names like champion darts player, Martin Adams, and chasers from ITV’s popular tea time gameshow.

Duncan Garrood, CEO at Punch, commented, “The 2016 Roadshows were our biggest and best yet! We aimed high and delivered above those expectations. I couldn’t be more impressed with just how many current and potential Publicans we welcomed through our doors.

'The feedback on all aspects of the event was astounding - from the location of each venue to the support offered from suppliers and operations. The 2016 Roadshows were a storming success and we fully expect them to go from strength to strength!”
