Dominos raises UK pipeline to 1,600 sites

The takeaway and delivery pizza chain said it expects to operate around 950 UK stores by the end of 2016. The total expansion of 650 new stores would now deliver 22,750 jobs in total.

Chairman David Wild said, 'Our continued strong e-Commerce performance and our collaboration with our dedicated franchisees, enable us to increase our U.K. presence significantly.'

'Internationally, our progress in Switzerland and new collaborations in the Nordic region are exciting opportunities for the business.'

The company added that it expects capital expenditure this year to be lower than that previously indicated due to re-phasing of the new supply chain centre projects. Capex is now expected to will be around £20m compared with £33m indicated at the half year.

The firm stated, 'This will not affect our ability to meet demand over the next 18 months. We remain committed to the return of surplus cash to shareholders through buy-back, but have paused the process in recent weeks because of an issue we are resolving.'
