Two further D&D restaurants to open in Leeds

Hammerson has announced that internationally renowned restaurant group, D&D will take space for a second rooftop restaurant at its recently launched, Victoria Gate development in Leeds.

A leading global restaurant group boasting Michelin stars amongst its 34 strong portfolio, D&D’s second restaurant will be a 500m2 rooftop unit that will include an outside dining terrace. The restaurant will be the group’s fourth restaurant in the UK outside of London.

Having already signed up to take a 725m2 unit, D&D has also confirmed the concepts and names of the two restaurants which are due to open in the Spring.

The first will be a Japanese restaurant named Issho, which means ‘together’ in Japanese and will offer a menu of fresh and interesting plates that will include some show-stopping sharing dishes. With its rooftop bar and outdoor terrace, visitors will also have a front-row seat to watch the chefs in action, from counter seating in front of a semi-open kitchen.

The second restaurant will be a Manhattan-style rooftop bar and grill, named East 59th after the address of D&D’s New York outpost, Guastavino’s, and will have a US-inspired food menu. The restaurant will be a glamorous all-day grill, bar and rooftop destination which will boast panoramic views across the city.

The international restaurant group has a string of highly successful restaurants in the UK including London based, Quaglino’s, Le Pont de la Tour, Bluebird, German Gymnasium in Kings Cross and the brand new, Aster restaurant in London’s Victoria.

Sarah Fox, Head of Restaurant and Leisure at Hammerson, said, “It is a great result for Victoria Leeds’ dining offer that D&D has chosen to open a second restaurant. Both of the restaurant concepts provide a different and appealing offer that will no doubt prove popular with visitors.”

Des Gunewardena, Chairman & CEO of D&D London, added, “We are very excited to be opening two new restaurants in what is a spectacular rooftop space above the new Victoria Gate shopping centre. These will be our second significant ventures in Leeds.”
