BrewDog introduces Puppy Parental Leave

Scottish brewer and bar operator, BrewDog has introduced Puppy Parental Leave across the company.

The group stated, 'Having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival – whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog – can be stressful for human and hound both. So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff a working week’s leave on us to help settle a new furry family member into their home.'

Ever since Bracken, the original Brew Dog, first watched James and Martin mash in batch number one of Punk IPA back in 2007, dogs have been central to the firm's way of life. Puppy Parental Leave will support nervy canines and their owners alike in those all-important first few days of the greatest relationship a person can have (children excepted – more on them later).

This brand new pooch-based perk will be available to all BrewDog crewmembers across the globe, including those joining the ship Stateside as part of BrewDog Columbus. The firm said, 'We’re not aware of any other American company giving a week’s leave to their staff to help build the bond between them and their dog – but then few other companies have four-legged friends at their centre as we do.'

Alongside this, BrewDog is also proud to be a Living Wage employer and offer sabbaticals for its crew, as well as sharing 10% of the annual profits of its company between everyone who made it happen. Plus it embraces beer knowledge with the highest number of Cicerone-trained staff of any company in the world – and it also offers enhanced maternity and paternity pay for two-legged arrivals!
