Charlie Bighams to create 300 jobs at new 85,000 sq ft Somerset site

Charlie Bigham's is planning to create 300 jobs at its new 85,000 sq ft production facility at Dulcote Quarry in Somerset, including about 120 by August.

Bigham's, which also has production kitchens in London, will be opening the first phase of the new state-of-the art site this summer, which includes a staff cafe.

The company, which produces upmarket ready meals, currently supplies supermarkets such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and some Tesco stores. It has seen profits rocket in recent years, in part thanks to the horse meat scandal, which has driven consumers to higher quality ready meals.

Founder of the family-owned business, Charlie Bigham, said, 'We've already created a fantastic building with exceptional facilities and once all the landscaping is complete, the site will have a campus feel to it which will really reflect the Bigham's philosophy of providing its people with the best possible working environment.

“At Bigham's we want people to come and join us who have a great attitude and are interested in working for a business with a strong set of values and a sustainable long term future.'
