New business development manager for Brakspear

Pub operator and brewer Brakspear has appointed Gavin Mansfield as a business development manager with responsibility for pubs stretching across its estate from Henley-on-Thames to Dartford.

Mansfield has worked in the hospitality sector for almost 20 years, including a six-year stint as an operations manager at McMullens Pubs. He also worked for the Restaurant Group-owned Brunning & Price pub group, and for Marston's on the Pitcher & Piano brand, as well as spending some time running his own pubs.

Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies, said, 'Gavin's experience and excellent track record make him a welcome addition to the Brakspear team.

'The role of our BDMs is crucial in identifying what help each of our tenants needs to thrive, whether they're running a destination food pub or a community local. We make sure our BDMs spend as much time as they can in their pubs, getting under the skin of the business so that they can offer tailored support that makes a real difference.

'Gavin has achieved excellent results in previous roles looking after managed and tenanted businesses and we are confident he will add enormous value to the pubs in his region.'

Mansfield, pictured left with David Thompson, new tenant at Belgian Arms in Holyport, said, 'I'm delighted to be joining Brakspear, with its estate of great pubs run by talented operators. My aim is to help all my tenants to become better retailers, running thriving pubs that are achieving their full potential.'

Brakspear operates around 125 tenanted and leased pubs as well as nine managed sites. Tenants are supported to run their business with a raft of marketing and promotional activities, a range of training courses, and an ongoing programme of ‘sparkles' delivered by Brakspear's in-house design team.
