New Nisa Local opens at Southend-on-Sea station

Rail passengers travelling through Southend-on-Sea needn’t worry about running short of supplies on their journey thanks to the brand new Nisa Local store that has just opened its doors.

The derelict train station unit was taken on by Mitul Patel who had the store fully re-fitted and turned around in just three weeks to Nisa’s Evolution format specification.

Boasting a great food-to-go and chilled range to ensure train passengers calling in have a good choice as well as a broad core range to cater for those using the shop as their regular convenience store, the Station Convenience Store certainly looks the part.

Mitul Patel said his customers have been blown away by the new 1,200 sq. ft. store which opened at the beginning of June.

“People have been coming in and saying ‘Wow! This is the store!’. We get a real mix of people in here including commuters and people who live and work nearby and everyone has been delighted.”

Head of Format and Development at Nisa, Darren May, said: “This renovation shows just how versatile Nisa is in terms of getting the right fit for whatever the location.

“The nature of the consumers in this store is obviously quite transient and it gives us a great opportunity to showcase what Nisa has to offer to a really wide audience.

“Whether it is a symbol store with a Nisa fascia or an independent store with the retailer’s own fascia, we have the flexibility to make it work for the retailer.”
