Godiva to open first standalone site beyond London in Harrogate

Upmarket chocolate retailer, Godiva is to open a 2,373 sq ft chocolate shop in Harrogate, as part of plans to expand its London-based chain to new sites across the country.

The company has signed a ten year lease for 21 Prospect Place in Harrogate to open its 13th UK site, which will be situated across two floors.

Owner of the building High Point Estates Ltd was represented jointly by Savills and Central Retail.

Josh Howe, associate in the retail team at Savills Leeds, said, 'We are pleased to have secured this deal with Godiva on behalf of our client.

'The brand will perfectly complement the surrounding mix of high quality retailers, while the prominent corner location is ideal for the brand.'

Tom Limbert, director at Central Retail, added, 'Godiva is now rolling out stores across the UK, but currently only has locations in London.

'This deal really does show the strength of Harrogate, which the brand has chosen for one of its first stores outside the capital.'

Godiva's UK portfolio includes a chocolate cafe on the second floor of Harrods in London, and has in-store sites in Selfridges Manchester and Fenwick Newcastle. Beyond the UK, the brand has sites in Brussels, New York and Tokyo.
