2 Sisters creates 170 new jobs at two Derbyshire facilities


Food manufacturing giant, 2 Sisters is creating 170 new jobs in Derbyshire, including 70 jobs at its ready meals factory in Derby and 100 jobs at its Matthew Walker pudding factory in Heanor.

The Derby factory makes barbecue, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat poultry products, employs 500 people.

Established in 1899, the Matthew Walker firm is world’s oldest Christmas pudding-maker. It supplies over 26 million puddings a year to supermarkets, convenience stores and wholesalers. Its customers include supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Marks & Spencer.

In May, the firm announced it would be expanding into making Christmas cakes following a £250k investment.
