Bakkavor puts Nottinghamshire food processing site on market

International food manufacturing company, the Bakkavor Group has put the former Welcome Foods factory in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire on the market with Savills.

The company ceased production at the 51,985 sq ft (4,830 sq m) site at the end August due to “difficult trading conditions”.

The site comprises a food processing factory, warehouse, storage space and extensive three storey office accommodation, and is available at a rent of £4.75 per sq ft (£51 per sq m).

Ian Muxlow, director in the commercial team at Savills Nottingham, commented, “Situated in a prime industrial location, the property offers excellent access to J28 of the M1 providing connectivity to Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

'There remains a significant lack of supply across the East Midlands and for this reason we expect to receive considerable interest from potential occupiers.”

Bakkavor employs over 18,000 people worldwide across 43 sites, including about 2,000 at Bakkavor Desserts in Newark.

The firm makes freshly prepared foods, supplying more than 5,500 products across categories such as ready meals, soups, salads, dips and breads. It specialises in private label foods and its key customers include M&S, Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Morrisons and the Co-op.
