Ei & publican invest £370k in Manchester pub

Publican Mark Canny has made a joint investment of £370k with Ei Publican Partnerships to completely renovate the Bowling Green, Manchester, adding six new ensuite bedrooms and revamping the downstairs bar area. The pub will open on the 1st February 2018

Mark Canny, who has been publican at the Bowling Green for over 15 years, has created a true hub for the local community; with two football teams, the 3,500 strong Chorlton running group, a cycling group, and a Gaelic football team all calling it home.

In addition to the letting rooms, the pub’s downstairs area will be refreshed to give it a modern look and feel with a new menu and bar range throughout.

Canny said, “I’m confident these renovations will further enhance the look and feel of the pub. I can’t wait to get them started and enjoy another 15 years with my fantastic staff and loyal customers.

“We are really looking forward to the new letting rooms and believe there’s a gap in the market in Chorlton, a home from home for delivering quality accommodation.”

Ei Publican Partnerships Regional Manager Paul Hirst added, “Mark is an excellent publican who is testament to the quality existing across our estate. We’re dedicated to supporting and developing the businesses of our publicans and were more than happy to get behind this project and help it happen.

“Investing in our estate and tapping into the full potential of all our pubs is something we’re passionate about achieving. I’m confident with an experienced and knowledgeable operator like Mark in charge, this will be a roaring success and great addition to the local community.”

Canny intends for the bar to be reopened by popular regular Arthur Johnson, who he recently awarded with free beer for life on his 100th birthday.
