JJ Food Service supports Mayor of London with Smart Eating brochure

National wholesaler JJ Food Service has launched a Smart Eating brochure to give caterers 10% off healthier options when they join London’s Healthier Catering Commitment (HCC).

Group General Manager, Terry Larkin, said, “We’re working with The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and the HCC to encourage food outlets to promote healthier options.”

JJ’s Smart Eating brochure features fresh fruits, vegetables, rapeseed and sunflower oils, gluten-free, meat-free alternatives, such as Quorn (pictured), and wholegrain options with a 10% discount on five products for three months when new customers sign up to the HCC programme.

The brochure will be promoted at a formal HCC event at City Hall on February 6, 2018. It will be made available to download via the JJ Food Service website which receives more than 20,000 visits every week.

The HCC is a voluntary scheme, which incentivises food outlets in London to make small changes to improve the quality of the food they sell. The HCC food award is given to restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets, which have met a minimum requirement of healthy catering criteria.

JJ is the only UK wholesaler to be working in partnership with the HCC and was the first UK business to introduce a ‘Healthier Options Award’ for takeaways following the launch of its FOODit Independent Takeaway Awards in December 2017.
