Blind Spot at St Martins Lane launches globally inspired cocktail menu

This month, Blind Spot, the late-night speakeasy located at St Martins Lane hotel, will launch a new cocktail list inspired by locations from around the globe.

Travelling from country to country, ‘Spin the Globe’ gathers the world’s flavours into a selection of 24 distinct serves – from NYC to Sydney, through Venice, Mumbai, Kyoto and more.

Designed by St Martins Lane’s General Bar Manager, Wilfried Rique, the creative serves are an exercise in world exploration, inspired by the scents, flavours and histories of iconic global destinations. Kyoto, Japan, for instance, combines Nikka whisky from the barrel, almond syrup, rose water, yuzu juice, blackcurrant liqueur, and wasabi, whilst Chichen Itzá, Mexico is a savoury mix of Quiquiriqui mezcal, lime, tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, avocado, salt, pepper, and white grape juice.

For those looking to take a short haul trip, Dublin, Ireland is a punchy combination of Jameson whiskey, Guinness reduction, salty solution, apple compote, orange juice, and Drambuie liqueur, whilst Taunton, England is even closer to home and combines Somerset brandy, apple juice, pear juice, cider, pimento liqueur and Abbott’s bitters.

Guests can also pair the carefully crafted drinks with nibbles from the same region, with a selection of global bar snacks including Empanadas de carne, Black cod dumplings with chilli soy dip, Lime jerk chicken wings and sweet treats such as a Paris New Orleans choux pastry with praline cream and cherry compote.

Hidden in St Martins Lane hotel in the heart of Covent Garden, Blind Spot is set behind the façade of a boutique tea counter and a secret golden hand-shaped handle. The speakeasy’s innovative ‘Spin the Globe’ menu is a cosmopolitan celebration of global culture, set to reconfirm the bar’s position as a frontrunner in London’s cocktail bar scene.
