Elior wins five-year deal with Roehampton University

Food and drink outlets at both University of Roehampton sites are set for a total refresh after the university awarded leading contract caterer Elior UK a five-year catering contract.

As part of the deal, Elior is making substantial investment to transform facilities at the University’s two campuses – where it will cater for around 10,000 students and 1,100 employees. Refurbishment work has already begun.

Robin Givens, National Sales Director at Elior UK, said, “Students tastes have changed dramatically in recent years – they’re more likely to be found in coffee shops than the student bar. They’re heavily influenced by world food trends, they care about what’s in their food, where it came from, and they want every meal to be an experience. And the exciting new offer at University of Roehampton has been designed with that in mind.”

As part of the new offer, the University’s sites will benefit from bespoke new coffee shops offering barista-quality Fairtrade coffee. All menus will be refreshed with a vibrant, global food offer as well as a wide range of freshly-made Grab and Go sandwiches, wraps, salad bowls and grazing pots.

Students and staff will also be able to take advantage of all of Elior’s latest branded street food concepts – including Mexican street eating concept Wrap Bamboo, Korean street food concept Bibimbab, and the award-winning Beak St. Chicken.

Jerry Woods, Director of Estates & Facilities, University of Roehampton, said, “The University of Roehampton prides itself on the student experience it offers, with outstanding staff and facilities set in the most beautiful surroundings. Food and drink is a huge part of the overall experience, which is why we’re very pleased to be working with Elior to ensure we’re providing the best.”

The win marks another significant contract in the university sector for Elior, which overhauled the food and drink offer at Kingston University London in 2016 as part of a five-year contract – one of the largest university catering contracts in the UK.
