Restaurant Associates victorious at ACE Quiz Night


On Wednesday 18th April 2018, The Association of Catering Excellence was once again at Lloyd’s of London for the popular annual Quiz Night, a firm favourite in the ACE calendar with 36 teams and over 240 people from the catering & hospitality industry taking part.
This year, the quiz was won by Restaurant Associates. The team of 6 won the Sheila Mitchell Quiz Trophy and a bottle of champagne each.

For the first time there was a runners’ up prize which was won by Vacherin, and bringing up the rear in third place was Blue Apple.

ACE Chair, Gaye Bullard said: “We all love Quiz Night, with teams from across the hospitality industry joining in. It’s a really fun and relaxed evening where everyone can take part, and of course there’s always a bit of friendly banter between the teams. The purpose of ACE is to bring people together at fun events to meet, connect and build new relationships. It’s about getting out from behind the emails!”

Quiz rounds included: Food Critics, Plants, Wine, Anagrams, Energy and the much anticipated music round! Hosting staff from Evolve Hospitality welcomed and directed guests, and collected the quiz papers. The raffle raised £1,134 which will go to the Wiggly Worm charity.

The next ACE event will be the Summer Party on 18th July which will take place on board Bateaux London and include the ACE Robyns Awards Presentation.

The ACE Robyns Award has been created by the ACE committee in memory of Robyn Jones OBE, founder of CH&Co, who sadly died in September 2015. Robyn was known for her tireless work in the mentoring, training and development of young talent. These awards put the spotlight on the next generation of the industry, something Robyn was always at the forefront of. Last year’s award was won by Laura Amos from Ampersand.
