Argentine steak restaurant group, Gaucho plc, having sought advice from KMPG on 22 Cau-branded UK restaurants,
The news means that 750 UK jobs are now at risk, following so many other losses in the casual dining sub-sector including Prezzo, Byron, and Jamie's Italian.
Gaucho launched Cau in 2011 and was inspired by Argentina, offering a menu with beef bred on the Pampas. The food offer was to be much simpler than that at Gaucho with, dishes such as steak sandwiches, burgers and sausages dominating the menu.
