Michael OHare leaves GG Hospitality restaurant in Manchester

Michelin-starred chef Michael O'Hare has left The Rabbit in the Moon in Manchester, cutting ties with Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

The former football stars appointed O'Hare as culinary creative director of their firm, GG Hospitality. The chef was to open three restaurants in the city centre, including a refurbished Stock Exchange, as well as bringing a Michelin star to Manchester.

O'Hare opened The Rabbit in the Moon in January 2017 and then relaunched it again in March, with a fresher look - white table cloths instead of black toilet roll. He let head chef Luke Cockerill go after the restaurant failed to receive Michelin a star at the first attempt

O'Hare has decided to head back to Leeds to focus on his restaurant there, The Man Behind The Curtain, which has a Michelin star.

A statement from GG Hospitality said: 'Michael O’Hare has stepped down as culinary creative director of GG Hospitality. Michael made the decision to focus on his critically acclaimed restaurant, The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds.

'Fine dining restaurant The Rabbit in The Moon will continue to operate under the guidance of head chef John Granaghan and front of house Charlotte Rasburn, both formerly of one Michelin star The Man Behind The Curtain.

'Plans for Stock Exchange Hotel’s restaurant, which is set to open early 2019, will be revealed over the next few months.'
