Greene King restructures with 100 office jobs to go

Greene King is to shed about 100 office-based jobs due to cost pressures, in order to ensure it is 'sustainable and fit for the future'.

The planned restructure would see 60 jobs go at Greene King's headquarters in Bury St Edmunds and 40 at Burton upon Trent. However, the scheme will also see 25 new roles created.

The company has faced the widespread foodservice challenges of rising costs, increased competition and, prior to the current heatwave, poor weather.

Greene King said that it will focus on supporting its pubs and believes restructure will deliver 'a simpler, more effective way of working and at the same time reduce costs'.

The brewery and pub giant employs 39,000 people and operates 2,855 pubs, restaurants and hotels in the UK.
