Sainsburys becomes first supermarket to launch small-sized cocktail ingredients

Sainsbury's is shaking up cocktail hour with the launch of nine new cocktail ingredients, which come in 35cl and 20cl, and start at just £5.

The range is designed to be affordable for everyone, so shoppers can swap the cocktail bar for their kitchen and impress friends by mixing up an Espresso Martini like a pro.

Sainsbury’s is the first supermarket to launch a variety of cocktail ingredients in 35cl and 20cl bottles. The bottle size ensures shoppers don’t need to invest heavily before experimenting with cocktail o’clock.

The range has been exclusively produced for Sainsbury’s by Gabriel Boudier, which was founded in 1874 and is known for creating exceptional products. Customers can enjoy great tasting cocktails at home without the premium price tag.

The products will be available in selected stores and online, priced between £5 and £8.50: Crème de Cassis, Raspberry Liqueur, Crème de Peches, Bitters, Triple Sec,
Elderflower Liqueur, Coffee Liqueur, and Hazelnut Liqueur.

The nation’s thirst for all things cocktails is continually growing, with 151 million cocktails served in bars across the nation in 2017. These flavours have been created so cocktail lovers can skip the long queues and make the likes of a Kir Royal, Bellini, Old Fashioned or Martini in their kitchen– bringing the spirit of a bar to the home.

Sainsbury’s has developed easy cocktail recipes which require just three simple steps to make, meaning shoppers can whip up a refreshing Margarita - take tequila, add the Sainsbury’s Triple Sec along with a handful of ice, a squeeze of lime and shake it all together.

Louise Lynch, Product Developer for Beers, Wines & Spirits at Sainsburys, said, “This range is all about customers reclaiming the cocktail hour at home.

'Whether you are looking to impress on date night or are hosting a big party with family and friends, we want delicious cocktails to be affordable with no more dusty old bottles lurking in the drinks cabinet.

'The range allows for all types of recipes, from old classics to modern interpretations; all guaranteed to impress your guests.”
