Carte Blanche launches bottomless weekend brunch

This month Carte Blanche, the Hackney restaurant known for its bold French flavours and American comfort food classics, is launching a bottomless weekend brunch that promises to either cure or cause a hangover.

From 29 September, founder Andy Taylor, who also founded Le Bun, will be putting an indulgent, Southern-style twist on brunch classics at Carte Blanche’s Mare Street dining room, pouring bottomless drinks to match.

Kicking off at a leisurely 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays, Carte Blanche’s brunch has been designed with last night’s partiers in mind. Guests can ease themselves in to the menu with flavourful snacks such as truffle mac’n’cheese, fish tacos and Andy’s favourite Nashville fried oysters.

Larger plates draw inspiration from US diner classics, such as steak and eggs with zingy chimichurri, a South Carolina-style pig’s head hash with a rich lardo hollandaise, a cronut monsieur with melted gruyere and Bayonne ham, and the new brunch classic in the making, the fried chicken & caviar benedict; Andy’s signature fried chicken, served on a buttery English muffin, topped with a caviar hollandaise.

For those not yet up to the challenge of eating with a knife and fork, there’s a choice of soft buns, including a breakfast burger, hot chicken bun, and a classic cheeseburger. Those looking to get the party started all over again can opt for £20 bottomless booze, with serves from the Carte Blanche bar including a French Spritz, a classic Mimosa, fizz, and even a Bloody Mary that arrives precariously garnished with a miniature cheeseburger.

Taylor said, “Brunch is one of my favourite weekend traditions, and something I discovered during my travels across the States – they really know how to brunch over there. Rounding up some mates and finding out what happened the night before over some comfort food is the perfect way to start the day.”

Brunch at Carte Blanche will be served from 1pm-5pm on Saturdays, and 1pm-late on Sundays. Bottomless booze can be added and lasts for 2 hours.
