It seems that a growing number of Brits are opting for a takeaway on Christmas Day with succulent kebabs being the top food of choice.
The news has been revealed by Just Eat, which has launched an interactive heat map https://www.just-eat.co.uk/campaigns/festive-food/ of the UK’s takeaway habits on Christmas Day, revealing that it served takeaway curries, pizzas, and burgers to hungry Brits across the nation.
The UK’s top 10 best-selling dishes on Christmas Day last year were:
Kebabs
Margherita Pizza
Cheeseburger
Chicken Burger
Fried Chicken
Chicken Nuggets
Chicken Tikka Masala
Chicken Wrap
Chicken Korma
Beef Burger
Last year, Just Eat had over approximately 5,000 takeaway restaurants open on Christmas Day and around 20,000 open on New Year's Day, and it is predicting even more will be open this year.
In total, Just Eat estimates that by midnight on New Year’s Day 2019, 165,000 Chinese dishes, 134,000 Indian meals and 169,000 pizzas, will have been ordered on its website and mobile app.
Last year, customers felt tired of festive leftovers, with orders for Italian pizzas, Chinese dishes and Indian curries spicing up the New Year.
