Greyhound Cafe to host ‘Little Bangkok’ weekend

Greyhound Café in Fitzrovia will host ‘Little Bangkok’, a weekend (9-12) of street food inspired by the colourful and chaotic streets of the Thai capital.

The restaurant’s terrace will be transformed into an ode to the famed Thai street food markets and food bazaars found in Bangkok.

To set the scene, the ‘Little Bangkok’ terrace will be adorned with lights, vibrant ornaments and decorations alongside a Thai Tuk Tuk, evoking the sights of the traditional street food setting.

The terrace will also play host to Greyhound Café chefs, who will be on hand to dish up street food favourites such as Moo Ping (barbecued skewers sold on every street corner in Bangkok), authentic Pad Thai Goong, Som Tam Moo Krob (papaya salad with crispy pork) and traditional coconut ice-cream alongside creations from Greyhound Café’s new menu.

To celebrate the beginning of summer, Greyhound have teamed up with fellow Thais, Chang beer, who have created DIY-style beer towers for the occasion and also Thai Airways, to create a one-off celebratory cocktail to toast the occasion made with Butterfly Pea tea and violette and lychee liqueurs.

Founder Bhanu Inkawat said, “Since we opened Greyhound Café, we’ve always taken inspiration from the street food culture from all over Thailand. The sounds, sights and smells are all quintessentially Thai and we can’t wait to bring a slice of the action to our home in Fitzrovia and give Londoners the authentic experience.”

Greyhound will be offering guests the chance to win a number of Thai-inspired prizes. Together with Tourism Thailand as part of their ‘Eat Thai, Visit Thai’ campaign, one lucky winner and a friend will fly to Bangkok, courtesy of Thai Airways, for the ultimate food-filled Bangkok city break including accommodation and a Tuk Tuk tour to sample the best of Bangkok street food.

Also up for grabs will be a second pair of flights plus a 5,000 Thai Baht voucher (c. £100) to spend at Greyhound Café over in Bangkok at their original restaurant that launched back in 1997.

Diners and post-work drinkers can continue to wile away the warmer days and longer nights, soaking up the seasonal sun at the Little Bangkok terrace throughout the summer months.
