Bun House launches steamed pumpkin buns

This autumn, Bun House, the Cantonese-style steamed bun specialist, will celebrate Halloween with its new limited edition pumpkin buns.

For now until 31 October, the spooky buns will be available at Bun House’s Chinatown home and Wembley’s Box Park.

Founded by husband and wife duo Z He and Alex Peffly, Bun House is known for its innovative takes on traditional Cantonese flavours, and signature seasonal buns.

Halloween’s plump pumpkin buns will be filled with sweet, roasted pumpkin, spiced with fragrant star anise, cinnamon and cloves. The orange dough is then carefully scored to give the perfect pumpkin shape, before being steamed to soft, pillowy perfection. Finally, each one is studded with a goji ‘stalk’.

Z He said, “One of the things we love most about Bun House is the chance to be creative with what’s in season. In China, pumpkins symbolise prosperity and abundance; here, they lend themselves perfectly to a sweet, seasonal bun that looks and tastes like the best of autumn.”
