Travelodge HQ to double business sales team

Today, Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel brand, which operates 587 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain, has announced it is looking to fill 35 full time positions at its head office in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Over the last five years, Travelodge has totally transformed. During this period sales have grown by more than £250m, the company has outperformed it competitive segment for five years in a row, opened more than 60 new hotels and more than trebled its profitability. Annually Travelodge welcomes 19 million customers annually and the company has been recognised as one of the world’s top ten global hotel chains by TripAdvisor.

Travelodge continues to expand its network of hotels and has also enhanced its product offering. It has introduced SuperRooms - bringing the ‘premium economy’ concept familiar to airline users to the UK budget hotel market. This new class of room dials up the comfort factor with a concept designed especially for business and leisure customers who want the extra choice of a more premium room.

Last year, the company launched Travelodge Plus, a new budget chic hotel format which has been designed around the needs of the modern budget traveller who wants that little bit more style and choice.

The company is also on track to extend its network with a further 100 new hotels over the next five years – which will create approximately 2,000 new jobs.

In response to this success, 12 out of the 35 positons the company is looking to fill are for; Business Development Managers in the company’s Corporate Sales team. This department is expanding in response to Travelodge experiencing a significant rise in business customers switching to the brand over the last few years. Today over 50% of the company’s customer base are business travellers staying for business purposes. This includes the Government, FTSE 100 companies, blue chip companies, financial institutions, SMEs and entrepreneurs.

The Business Development Managers will be required to create bespoke strategies and build collective relationships across new markets.

The other 23 specialist roles are located in the following key central functions: IT, HR, Revenue, Sales and Marketing and Central Operations – a full list of positions can be found at the end of the release and further information on the roles can be found at: https://www.travelodge.co.uk/careers/.
