Crussh partners with food charity for Xmas campaign

The healthy food & juice chain, Crussh Fit Food & Juice Bars is partnering with The Felix Project, a UK food charity improving sustainability by rescuing edible food waste and delivering it free of charge to vulnerable people suffering food poverty in London.

Crussh will sell ‘The Festive Fixer’ smoothie from Monday 11 Nov to 31 Dec, donating 50p from the sale of each smoothie to The Felix Project.

The smoothie (from £4.25) will be freshly blended from frozen yogurt, coconut water, blueberries, pineapple, banana & ginger; it is the perfect post-party recovery, with ingredients that are good for hydration, stomach soothing and energy.

As part of the wider campaign, Crussh Head Office & store teams will be volunteering with The Felix Project over the festive period, picking up food from Crussh outlets and delivering to those in need.

Helen Harrison, Brand Director for Crussh, said, ‘We are delighted to be supporting the Felix Project as part of our Christmas campaign this year. We’ve been working with the charity for some time on food collections from some of our central London stores, but we wanted to do more!

'The issue of food waste continues to be a problem within our industry and we want to lead by example, helping raise awareness about how surplus food can be used to provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.'

Harrison continued, The partnership will complement our existing Food Waste policy. We run a ½ price end of day sale in all stores to reduce food waste. In our central production kitchen, all our food waste is collected by ReFood, where our food waste is then turned into green energy.

'This equates to approximately 1 tonne a week of organic waste which is diverted from landfill. Plus, in over half our stores, our food waste produced as a biproduct of production preparation, like our fresh juice, is put into designated food waste bags that are composted.”

Mark Curtin - CEO, The Felix Project, said, “Generous and responsible businesses like Crussh donate their unsold food to The Felix Project at the end of the day to prevent it becoming waste.

'We deliver this surplus directly to charities in their local community who are working hard to provide food for those most at risk of food poverty.

'We are so grateful for our partnership with Crussh. We are thrilled that they are using their Festive Fixer smoothie to fight food waste and help Londoners in need with The Felix Project this Christmas.”
