Flagship Costcutter store opens in Chislehurst

Costcutter Chislehurst has been transformed into a flagship store following a three-month long refit and is already enjoying an 85% year-on-year sales uplift.

Located close to Chislehurst train station, the store has been reopened following a £240k transformation to double the size and create the most comprehensive convenience offering in the area. The reinvestment has also created three new local jobs in the process.

Featuring the new fascia format and interior finish, the store was redesigned using in-depth shopper insights and data which has been developed through Costcutter Supermarket Group’s (CSG) unique Shopper First: Drive Five to Thrive business growth programme. The insights have led each aspect of the transformation, from range and missions to marketing and in-store merchandising and execution.

Designed with Busy Impulsers in mind - families who shop for healthy and easy meals with a couple of fresh ingredients - the store, which also includes a Post Office, features a much wider range of fresh fruit and vegetables, an expanded range of chilled foods and meal solutions and over 1,400 Co-op Own Brand products.

Capitalising on growing food trends, the store also boasts a comprehensive range of vegan and free-from chilled and ambient lines, locally sourced organic produce, as well as a brand-new Cook frozen ready-meal range and an in-store bakery. A regularly changing selection of craft beers and ales, premium wines and vape products have also been added.

Anil Patel, who has owned and operated the store for the past decade, (pictured) said, “We’re absolutely delighted with the new store. The feedback we’ve had so far from shoppers has been incredibly positive and encouraging.

“We’ve worked hard to make sure the store was re-designed with the needs of the local community at its heart. We’re already ahead of target with sales up by 85% on this time last year, so the future looks very promising.”
