London Edition welcomes new key personnel


The London Edition has today announced three new key personnel appointments across the hotel: Andrei Poptelecan as Executive Chef; Anne Lomas as Director of Food & Beverage; and Anthony Callegari as Bars Manager.

Andrei Poptelecan, Executive Chef, (pictured), who prefers to be known as Jon, has taken over the helm of Executive Chef of the hotel, including heading up the prestigious Berners Tavern.

Having worked at the property since 2014, Poptelecan has worked his way up through the ranks, garnering the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the restaurants’ director, Jason Atherton, making him the number one choice to become only the restaurant’s second Executive Chef after Phil Carmichael who headed up the restaurant since it launched in 2013.

Poptelecan will oversee all menus for the hotel, including room service and event catering.

Jason Atherton commented, ‘I’m thrilled for Andrei to be promoted to Executive Chef at Berners Tavern. He has worked with us for over six years, supporting Phil, therefore I’m happy to be able to reward his loyalty with the top job of filling Phil’s very big shoes.

'We have already created a fantastic Autumn menu together and I’m so excited to continue to work with him and watch him grow.’

Anne Lomas, the new Director of Food & Beverage, will oversee all aspects and operations of the hotel’s food & beverage programme. Lomas brings with her a wealth of experience having previously held the position of Director of Restaurants at The Savoy, overseeing several outlets and departments including the relaunch of the prestigious Simpson’s on the Strand.

A true foodie, Lomas’ passion and experience will see her continue to drive and support the hotel’s exciting food and beverage offering.

Anthony Callegari has been appointed as Bars Manager and he will oversee all hotel bar offerings, including Punch Room, Lobby Bar and the Berners Tavern bar offering.

Callegar joins the hotel from Mortimer House, where he was Head of Bars, and prior to that he spent four years as Bars Manager at The Ned. Originally from Italy, Callegari has resided in London for over 9 years, and it was there that he found his true passion behind the bar.
