Yum! Brands have announced they are to invest £20m in opening at least 100 new Pizza Hut delivery sites across the UK by 2014 which could create 2,000 new jobs. Existing and new franchises will also benefit from the investment who will receive financial support to open new stores. This is all in a bid to try and catch up with market leader Domino’s UK.
The pizza chain added that its long-term goal is to have 700 delivery stores across the UK, with an immediate focus on then delivering an additional 100 stores.
Last month private investment firm Rutland Partners bought Pizza Hut’s dine-in restaurants but Yum! kept hold of its delivery business. There are currently 330 pizza restaurants in the UK, less than half the number in Domino’s UK portfolio.
