Luca welcomes new Head of People to drive employment development

Luca, the Italian restaurant and bar in London's Clerkenwell, has announced the appointment of Nancy Wegner as its new Head of People.

Nancy has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked as Front of House at The Palomar; General Manager at The Laughing Heart; and Guest Relations Manager at The Clove Club, where she met Luca’s co-founders Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith.

As Head of People - a new role for the business - Nancy will be primarily responsible for Luca’s drive to cultivate an industry-leading company culture and encouraging more people into hospitality as a career.

As part of the role as Head of People, she will place a heavy focus on recruitment, training and coaching and driving employee development within the Luca family. To this role Nancy brings over 200 hours of experience working as a volunteer at Shout, a mental health charity.

Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith, co-founders of Luca, said, “With the hospitality sector in the midst of a staffing crisis, we need to look at long-term solutions to change the perception of hospitality from an interim job to a desirable, aspirational and fulfilling career.

'Nancy’s appointment is a key first step towards this at Luca. We’re proud of the team that we have and Nancy’s leadership and expertise will be central to pioneering a new type of hospitality workplace focused on people and skill.”
