KFC is to open 40 new sites this year as well as refurbishing 160 existing outlets withh £40m.
In recent years KFC has opened approximately 30 new sites a year through franchises but last year opened a further 10 and again aiming to beat that number this year with 40 or more new sites.
The company has around 850 restaurants in the UK and has seen seven consecutive years of growth – sites serve an average of 4,000 customers each per week. Sales rose 6% to £394m in the year to December 2011. KFC aim to operate 1,200 UK sites.
