Hotel group Britannia Hotels, has acquired the 145-bedroom Carrington House hotel in Bournemouth taking its number of hotels in the town to five.
Acquired form Forestdale Hotels off a guide price of £3m, the hotel was owned and operated by Akkeron Hotels, which decided to sell in order to concentrate its interests on operating other hotels in its portfolio of 17 sites.
In addition to its 145 bedrooms, Carrington House Hotel also has extensive banqueting facilities for 300 and an indoor leisure club. The hotel is located down a quiet tree lined avenue on Bournemouth's East Cliff — a short walk from the town centre and Bournemouth’s renowned beaches.
Britannia Hotels, which is privately owned and headed by Alex Langsam, now has 45 properties across the UK. It also owns Pontins after buying the chain of holiday camps out of administration in 2011.
Its other hotels in Bournemouth include the Britannia, Heathlands, Roundhouse and Royal Bath hotels.
The company has recently bought two hotels in Scotland – the former Travelodge Edinburgh West End and the Waterside Inn in Peterhead.
