Fourth Polpo all set to open

The new Polpo Notting Hill site is set to open on Saturday, with 120 covers which is double that of the other three Polpos.

It has taken owner Russell Norman less than five years to establish himself as one of the UK's most successful restaurateurs. Recently he was the BBC's The Restaurant Man, which saw him offer advice to six hopefuls trying their hand at catering.

Polpo was thus launched in London's Soho in 2008, and was modelled on the spit-and-sawdust bacari (wine bars) of Venice. The restaurant, which serves decent-value small plates of Venetian-inspired food, immediately offered something different from its rivals.

The Polpo sites do not accept bookings which has spawned something of a queuing phenomenon.
