Chartwells chalks up £23.5m contract at Bournemouth University

Chartwells, Compass Group UK & Ireland's specialist provider of catering to the education sector, has won a new 10-year contract at Bournemouth University.
.
The new deal, starting in September 2014 and worth an expected £23.5m in total, will see Chartwells provide food and hospitality services to over 18,000 students and 1,700 staff at both of Bournemouth University’s campuses.

Having worked with the University since 1995, Chartwells has an excellent track record; outlets at the university have remained on trend and have continued to grow in popularity.

Chartwells is committed to supporting BU in its drive to become a Centre for Excellence within the higher education sector. Ambitious plans are in place to further enhance the student experience at the University and to transform the existing BU dining and café environments at both the Talbot and Lansdowne campuses.

Development plans also include the creation of exciting outside eateries with a focus on Fairtrade produce and ethnic street style cuisine as well as the development of several new outlets in BU’s Fusion one building, which is due to open on campus in 2016.

Stuart Laird, Director of Estates at Bournemouth University, said, “The University was very clear on our final decision and recognised the benefits that would come from extending our partnership with Chartwells.

'BU has set out on a journey of investment and development over the next five years at both the Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses. We needed to be confident that catering services will continue to evolve and that our catering partner will adapt and respond accordingly.

'Chartwells know and really understand our business, and are uniquely placed to add value to our students’ experience whilst optimising the potential that our new Fusion building and strategy presents.”
