Everton FC gets green light for new stadium

Everton Football Club has been given the go-ahead from Liverpool Council to leave its historic Goodison Park stadium for a new 50,000-seater venue at Walton Park in the north of the city.

The council and the premier league side have agreed to move forward with plans for a new stadium-led development based at Walton Park, which will include community and leisure facilities.

The council and Everton will now work with other partners, including social landlord Liverpool Mutual Homes, to develop ideas for the site, which could lead to a formal planning application being lodged in the next 12 months.
