ISS acquires FM business of GSH operations

ISS UK has confirmed the acquisition of the UK, Ireland and European technical services division of GSH Group plc, putting to bed rumours that have been swirling through the industry for many months.

ISS says the move will create a significantly enhanced delivery capability, comprising over 1800 technicians across the region. It adds that the acquisition will provide both ISS and GSH customers with greater breadth of coverage and service.

The company also says it will continue to drive towards a more integrated self-delivery solution in its quest to become the ‘World’s Greatest Service Organisation’.

Richard Sykes, ISS UK and Ireland CEO, commented: “This is a strategic acquisition by ISS and will further enhance our technical capabilities both in the UK and by acting as a springboard to enhance our European expertise. At the same time, it creates a market-leading business in its own right. Our business has been extremely successful in growing our integrated solutions offering to our customers and this acquisition strengthens this solution even further.”

Clive Clarke, UK and Ireland MD at GSH, added: “This is an absolutely perfect fit for our business and provides a huge opportunity for all our staff. It will boost our technical engineering self-delivery within specialist hard services and total facility management contracts. ISS and GSH working together for mutual benefit will provide greater opportunities for colleagues to develop their career paths.”

The business acquired has an annual turnover of about £72m. The enterprise value of the acquisition is £53m, ISS reports.
