House of Fraser is considering plans to start opening out-of-town department stores, having appointed a company to find suitable locations. The retailer, which up until now, has only taken city centre or shopping centre stores, has been forced to consider retail parks because of the severe lack of new town centre and shopping centre developments in the UK .House of Fraser’s plan follows similar routes by rivals Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis. The group currently operates 62 department stores.
