Miles Kirby, co-founder of London’s renowned all-day dining restaurant group, Caravan, has joined forces with Logan Plant, founder of the famed Beavertown Brewery to create Spresso, a new, limited edition coffee stout, brewed over Caravan Coffee Roasters’ finest beans to create a full-on, bittersweet coffee flavour drink, with a treacly richness.
The barrel-aged Spresso will be launched to the public on Monday 6 February at Caravan in Exmouth Market, King’s Cross and the recently opened Bankside restaurant (until the beer runs out!), and to mark this, Kirby and Plant are hosting an exclusive one-off coffee matched 4-course dinner at Caravan Exmouth Market on the same date.
Opened in 2010, Caravan Exmouth Market was the first of the Caravan restaurants and housed the original Caravan Coffee Roastery in the restaurant’s basement, so provides the natural place to hold such a celebration.
Kirby's carefully curated 4-course dinner menu includes dishes such as ‘Scallop ceviche, lardo & bergamot’ and ‘Mutton shoulder, chermoula & fried aubergine relish’, with each dish chosen to complement the complex flavours of both coffee and beer.
Kirby and Plant have worked together to match each dish with a different Beavertown beer and will educate guests on the profiles of each and the process of pairing food with beer and coffee, throughout the evening.
