The Lucky Onion Group, the Cotsworld-based collective of hotels and restaurants, has purchased The Wild Duck in Gloucestershire.
Based in the village of Ewen, the latest addition to The Lucky Onion’s portfolio is a 16th century inn. The Wild Duck will close for refurbishment in January before reopening in late summer with 12 individually-designed bedrooms.
Additionally the group, which is owned by husband and wife Sam and Georgie Pearman, is investing in No. 131 in Cheltenham, which will have its room offering doubled from 11 to 22.
The Lucky Onion has also announced two new chef positions with former Mission Wine Bar and Kitchen head chef James de Jong joining The Tavern in Cheltenham, and Michelin Pub of the Year The Wild Rabbit’s Alan Gleeson joining as head chef of No. 131.
