Real Good Food set to invest £4.9m in expansion

Real Good Food is planning to invest £4.9m in the expansion of its Liverpool-based baking ingredients business, with the creation of an unspecified number of new jobs.

The main investment will be in new equipment, with plans to produce soft icings and frostings. The plant currently produces marzipan and sugar paste, which it exports to 34 countries, generating annual revenues of around £50m.

Real Good Food has a core staff of around 250 people at the site – rising to around 400 ahead of the peak Christmas period for the food industry.

It produces own label products for major retailers such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s and is now planning a major push to sell products worldwide under its own Renshaw brand.

In May, Real Good Food opened its new global hub of food technology, innovation and cake decoration skills in Liverpool.

The Liverpool Development Centre and Academy will serve as an international hub for food manufacturing innovation and cake decoration skills training. Diane Lunt from the academy is pictured with Avatar film character cake.
