Judes launches Black Coconut ice cream

The award-winning Jude's Ice Cream has created a brand new flavour, Black Coconut which is made with exotic coconut and coconut ash, the ingredient needed to give the ice cream its deep black colouring and super rich coconutty flavour.

The family-run company, which is based in Twyford, Winchester, has predicted that Black Coconut is set to be the edgiest summer treat to arrive in London.

Chow Mezger, Managing Director, commented, “We are delighted to launch our Black Coconut ice cream in the amazing Pear Tree Cafe.

'At Jude’s we are constantly playing with new flavours and sensory experiences and noticed a trend of black ice cream across the pond in the US.

'This flavour is a feast for both the taste buds and the eyes and we expect all food loving Londoners to go (coco) nuts for it this May bank holiday.'

Founded in 2002 by Chow's father, Theo, and named after Theo's wife, Jude’s now stocks 16 different flavours including ‘Hot Toddy’ and ‘Ginger Spice’ and has won over 25 Great Taste awards.

Sainsbury’s stocks Jude's ice cream with sales of increasing 200% year-on-year in 2016, according to Chow. Waitrose, Wholefoods and Ocado also stock the ice cream.

The company has recently installed a new dairy to keep up with this demand and meet their aim of expanding annual turnover by 20%.
