The Good Egg to launch summer terrace & new brunch menu


Stoke Newington's The Good Egg is set to unveil its garden terrace. Chefs Joel Braham, Alex Coppard and Oded Mizrachi will bring the al fresco dining spirit of Tel Aviv to East London with a new brunch menu and a dedicated Noshes (snacks) hour.

The trio of friends have created a courtyard lined with climbing greenery and recycled planters, including old oil canisters housing herbs and edible flowers for the chefs to take straight to the kitchen.

Focusing on the distinctive delis of Montreal and Tel Aviv’s street food scene, The Good Egg celebrates the wider global influence of exilic Jews on traditional Jewish cooking, using fresh British produce for a seasonal menu.

The new brunch menu will centre on the Jerusalem Breakfast with a selection of smaller plates to share, including; Whipped feta with grilled apricot and dukkah; Fudgey eggs + everything seasoning; Grilled hogget merguez sausage with preserved lemon yoghurt; and ‘Dak Dak’ salad with pine nuts and lemon. There will also be Oded’s usual selection of ever-popular Babkas, from salted caramel and pistachio, to date and pecan, as well as larger plates and sandwiches, from Shakshuka to a Montreal Reuben pita.

Weekday evenings will herald the arrival of Noshes Hour - snacks with cocktails. Noshes will include Za’atar Gribenes, Chilli and garlic marinated olives and House pickles, whilst the concise cocktail list features Fanny Luck with vergano vermouth, apple and basil shrub and soda; Manny Shevitz with Havana 3 rum and red grape shrub and the Lou Luck, made with Arak, grapefruit and fresh mint plucked straight from the garden.

Co-founder Joel Braham said, “You never quite know how much ‘Summer’ we’re actually going to get in London so we wanted to make the most of it. Opening up the back garden has allowed us to truly transport our diners out of the city, it’s a tranquil little space and if you hunker down with a plate of piping hot flatbread drizzled in thyme honey and a cocktail or two after a day in the office there’s a satisfying sense that you’ve got the knack of how to spend a Summer in London!”
