Chef Tommy Banks and his family are opening a new restaurant called Roots in York this autumn - the same name as his first book.
This will be the family’s second restaurant following on from their hugely successful award-winning and Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms, The Black Swan at Oldstead, North Yorkshire.
Roots will offer 'casual and playful sharing dishes' with the same focus on quality cooking with which chef Tommy Banks has become so synonymous.
Banks posted on Instagram, “So pleased to be able to announce our second restaurant @rootsyork that will open later this summer in York. We have so many ideas, I can’t wait to take @blackswan_oldstead ethos into a new concept in the city that we love.”
The Black Swan, which the Banks family opened in 2006, was crowned Trip Advisor’s 'Best Restaurant in The World' by its diners in October 2017, a first for a UK-based outlet.
