Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Aimbridge Hospitality’s International Division, has been appointed to operate the new Hampton by Hilton Canterbury, set to open in 2021.
The third-party management company has been awarded the contract by owner, Slatters Development Limited.
Construction has already begun on the new-build property, which will incorporate two listed buildings and retain its historic façade.
As well as the hotel’s trademark Hampton by Hilton features, including a meeting room, gym, Business Centre and food and beverage offering, the development will also feature a separate rooftop bar and restaurant.
Nicholas Northam, Executive Vice President – International at Interstate Hotels & Resorts, said, “The Hampton by Hilton Canterbury sits at the heart of an exciting development project taking place in the centre of Canterbury, led by Slatters Development Limited.
“We’re very proud to be a part of this development, drawing on our extensive experience of opening and operating Hampton by Hilton properties worldwide, and working closely with the owners to pay homage to Canterbury’s rich cultural history throughout the property.”
Located on St Margaret’s Street, the hotel sits in Canterbury’s city centre and will display archeological features discovered during the course of the development, including a glass panel in reception overlooking the remains of a Roman theatre. A number of the hotel bedrooms will also be located within the two listed buildings incorporated as part of the scheme.
Zaw Htut of Slatters Development, said, “We are very proud and excited about opening the Hampton by Hilton Canterbury, which we believe will be a fantastic and unique hotel and development. We look forward to working with Interstate and benefitting from the knowledge and expertise their team will bring to our hotel.”
