Casual dining chain, Wagamama has today announced the full list of 72 restaurants that will reopen for outdoor dining on 12 April with no pre-booking required
Given the Prime Minister’s roadmap which permits outside dining from 12 April, Wagamama today confirms that 72 of it’s restaurants (roughly half of its estate) will be opening to allow outdoor dining.
Since Wagamama has never taken bookings and is staying true to this ethos - no pre-bookings are required, meaning guests have maximum flexibility and teams will seat guests quickly and safely.
Under current government plans indoor dining will only be allowed after May 17 when Wagamama will look to reopen the remainder of their restaurants.
A spokesperson for the group said, “We’re excited to begin this first stage of reopening and we’ve got some incredible new dishes for guests to try.
'We announced in January that we had developed our biggest vegan range ever, including our vegan chilli squid. But with some of these dishes not being suitable for our delivery and click + collect menu, guests are yet to try them.
'We can’t wait to re-open with these new vegan versions of our most iconic dishes. Our outdoor dining experience offers guests the same great Wagamama experience whilst complying with coronavirus safety regulations, ensuring both guest and staff safety.”
Wagamama is working closely with their charity partners Young Minds and mental health campaigner Ben West on their mission to ‘open up differently’. Together they have sought to draw attention to the importance of mental wellbeing, especially amongst young people, which has been exacerbated by the isolation and loneliness felt during lockdown.
This has involved Wagamama positioning its iconic benches in key university cities and launching a limited-edition Katsu Smoothie in the run up to re-opening. Both are designed to help get young people opening-up and talking, with all proceeds going to Young Minds.
Wagamama will continue to offer delivery and click + collect at all of its current trading restaurants.
