Yeo Valley Organic celebrates its 30th anniversary

On 4th September 2024, Yeo Valley Organic, Britain’s largest organic brand[1], marked its 30th anniversary with a celebration that honours its roots and looks to the future. Nestled in Somerset's beautiful Yeo Valley, the family-owned brand operates two organic farms, where they maintain a herd of British Friesian cows and produce a wide range of organic products, including yogurt, cream, milk, butter, cheese, ice cream, and soup.

To commemorate this milestone, Yeo Valley Organic is teaming up with Great British Bake Off (GBBO) winner, Frances Quinn. Returning to Somerset, where she triumphed in the 2013 season of GBBO, Frances created a spectacular celebratory cake that commemorates the brands three decades. The design replicates their commitment to doing business from the ground up – their love and care for the soil, pedigree cows, and delicious organic products.

“Over 66 years in the Yeo Valley; over 50 years as yogurt makers; and now over 30 years as an organic brand. We would like to thank everybody who has been a part of the journey so far; our British organic family farms, our co-owners and suppliers, and our customers. We’re looking forward to the next 33 years that will complete our 100-year plan!” - Tim Mead, Yeo Valley Organic.

Frances also hosted an exclusive workshop event for loyal “Legendairy Yeokeners.” This event is part of Yeo Valley’s Yeokens loyalty scheme, which allows members to redeem points for access to special events, prizes, discounts, and more.

“I was thrilled to have been asked to bake Yeo Valley’s 30th birthday cake – and to come back down to Somerset where it all began for me as a professional baker. It’s been such an exciting few days in the Valley, baking, decorating and getting to spend some time in the countryside. I’m so proud of what we have created: a three-tiered cake that truly reflects the three decades to celebrate. I’m really grateful to have been able to spread the cheer with the team on 30 years of Yeo!” – Frances Quinn, Designer Baker & Winner of GBBO

Yeo Valley Organic is already a favourite for organic dairy products often voted the nation’s favourite organic brand by Good Housekeeping readers[2]. It is now expanding its influence to become the UK’s go-to organic food brand, recently adding organic soup to its product lineup with plans for even more growth throughout the coming year. Always striving to make organic widely available to all in the nation’s supermarkets, this year the brand achieved record sales of £200 million[3].

Yeo Valley Organic remains 100% family-owned by the Mead Family, with around 1700 co-owners working in the West Country. Co-founder Mary Mead OBE, 86, is actively involved with the British Friesian Breeder Club. Yeo Valley now farms across 2,000 acres in the Mendips, Somerset, where the company is focusing on innovative organic and regenerative farming projects to ensure a sustainable future, as well as looking at ways to improve access to the countryside.
