Scott Hallworths new Japanese venture

Ex Nobu and Wabi chef Scott Hallsworth is to open his new venture, Kurobuta, at Connaught Village in London in early September.

The Australian born chef, who left his role of executive chef at Wabi London in May before the restaurant went into administration, together with business partner Andrew Stafford, formerly also of Nobu, The Ritz and Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes, say the restaurant will be in the style of a traditional Japanese style pub known as izakaya. It will open for breakfast through to dinner, serving coffee, Japanese teas and pastries before offering savoury and sweet small dishes throughout the day.

Hallsworth has also announced that he plans to roll the concept out to other sites once the original is established. It is thought he saw a gap in the market for a mid-market contemporary Japanese concept and had investors who were interested in backing him for expansion.
