Planning permission has been granted for the development to transform a 75,000 sq ft office building in London’s East End into a 217-bed four-star extended stay hotel for Urban Villa.
Created by a joint venture between developers Union Hanover Securities and Southern Grove, the plans were approved by Tower Hamlets Council and work is intended to commence in the summer next year.
The 217-bedroom hotel will act as a flagship property for the Urban Villa brand, which comprises the design of edgy Manhattan loft-style common areas and spacious four star luxury hotel rooms.
There will be a restaurant located on the roof of the hotel with an independent operator being sought by Restaurant Property to manage the roof-top restaurant which comprises terraces, which will enjoy widespread views across the City of London.
The two companies then plan to roll out the Urban Villa brand across the UK.
